Happy Thanksgiving! As the holiday season unfolds, I’m reminded that this time of year is truly special. It is especially meaningful for someone like me who loves to cook for family and friends. Our Thanksgiving dinner is typically served around two o’clock. It’s not just a meal; it’s an experience filled with laughter, stories, and heartfelt conversations. These moments last throughout the day. However, as life often teaches us, joy can be shadowed by loss. Over the years, our family gatherings have changed drastically. Our table was once bustling with loved ones. It has dwindled now, and we are left to remember those who are no longer with us. Both of my parents have passed away in recent years. They left a void that is felt deeply during these holiday celebrations. Yet, even amidst this change, there’s a certain magic that remains. Last year, my Thanksgiving dinner was just my brothers, me. and my furry companion, my dog. While the gathering was not as grand as in the past, the essence of Thanksgiving remained. Gratitude and love were still very much alive. This leads me to a crucial realization. It’s not about the number of people around the table. It’s about cherishing those we hold dear in our inner circle. In today’s fast-paced world, we often measure our worth by the number of followers on social media. We also assess it by the size of our networks. We forget that true richness comes from the quality of our relationships. It’s about the people who show up when it matters most. These are the individuals who stand by us in tough times. They lend a listening ear. They offer support without hesitation. This Thanksgiving, I urge you to take a moment to recognize and appreciate the people in your life. Whether it’s family, friends, or even a beloved pet, express your gratitude. Share why you value their presence and the impact they have on your life. It’s easy to take for granted the kind words and appreciation that we should voice more often. So, as you gather around the table this year, let your words flow with sincerity. Embrace those around you, recount the beautiful memories, and acknowledge the love that unites you. In expressing thanks, you not only uplift others but also enrich your own spirit. Let’s make this Thanksgiving about more than just a meal. Let’s celebrate connection, love, and the small yet significant moments that remind us of what truly matters. Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours!
